Attorney & Founder · Ortman Law Firm, PLLC
A San Antonio native who has practiced law in Texas since 1991, Ronald founded the firm to guide local families through the matters that define them — and to stay with them, from the family law of everyday life to the probate work that follows.
Experienced, knowledgeable counsel — for the people who matter most.
Ronald A. Ortman is, first and foremost, a litigator. Admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1991, he has spent more than three decades in the courtroom — trying cases to juries and to the bench, arguing motions, and briefing and arguing appeals in the Texas state courts and the federal courts. That litigation background is the thread running through his entire career, and it is what he brings to the family and probate matters at the heart of the firm today: the judgment to resolve a dispute efficiently when it can be, and the trial and appellate experience to stand firm when it cannot.
His courtroom work spans complex, multi-jurisdictional litigation in the Texas state trial and appellate courts and in the United States District Courts for the Western and Southern Districts of Texas, along with federal appellate experience that includes matters before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. A graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, where he studied economics and philosophy, and of the University of Houston Law Center, Ronald built Ortman Law Firm on a simple, durable promise: experienced, knowledgeable representation, explained in plain language — and backed, when it matters, by a willingness to litigate. He remains, as he has always been, a San Antonian serving his own community.
